Consider A Gift
The DYC clubhouse needs your help! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Detroit Yacht Club Foundation this year. Doing so will help us restore and preserve our historic clubhouse building.
The building is nearly 100 years old and has significant repair and restoration. This will help in our march towards the building's centennial celebration. The greatest of these needs is to stop the water intrusion that is adversely affecting our historic clubhouse in both visible and hidden ways, causing damage to interior ceilings and walls, to exterior walls, doors and windows, and to the ballroom veranda. Put simply, we need to Seal the Envelope of the building to stop water damage and fix unsightly areas for the long term. The reality is that these problems are serious, and can only worsen and become more costly to remedy.
In 2011, the clubhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This honor reflected what we already knew: the home of the DYC is a grand and special building that serves members, their families and guests, and the community well. To restore and preserve this legacy is the reason we formed the Detroit Yacht Club Foundation, a public charity approved by the IRS to accept tax-deductible donations.
With the support of the DYC Officers and Directors as well as the Past Commodores, the Foundation has launched the Seal the Envelope Capital Campaign. This is a significant multi-year effort involving our members, former members, community leaders and grants. As funds become available, the Foundation’s independent Board of Trustees will manage and control the use of contributed funds to assure they are focused firmly on clubhouse restoration and preservation.
Your tax-deductible contribution can make a real difference in preserving this landmark building so it can be used and enjoyed for decades to come. To learn more about the Foundation, refer to the Frequently Asked Questions. Then review the giving recognition levels and benefits on the pledge sheet before filling it out and making your donation or pledge and initial payment. Note that your pledge can be spread over the three-year period of the capital campaign. If you have any questions or would like to discuss a special donation or bequest, please call the DYC Foundation at (313) 757-5240 or email us. Thank you very much for your support.
